I first came to know of Bharat Vohra through his articles (Steam Hunting in Mhow) that appeared in the Indian Steam Railway Society Newsletter. Good piece of writing, but I didn't think much about him until, much later, I came across his pictures on the cover page of the journal, and still later, his superb travelogue on the IRFCA : The Lines that United the Provinces. He is as much a steam railway fan as I am, and now I find myself stunned by a discovery I made only minutes ago: Bharat has even filmed a documentary on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway as part of his Master's thesis at the Parsons School for Design, New York. So, when are we going to get to see this documentary, my boy ?!!
.
The documentary seems remote, even inaccessible, but there's no need to despair. Bharat has written an interesting piece on the DHR, and if you have the slightest attraction for those chubby little blue coloured engines labouring along with a row of blue carriages on the mountain slopes of the Himalayas, you had better turn to his article. It is titled Darjeeling's Railway: A Himalayan Wonder, and you will find it here:
